Journalist Shyamal Dutta barred to leave country

Journalist Shyamal Dutta was stopped at Akhaura immigration in Brahmanbaria while attempting to flee the country.

The immigration authority stopped him on Tuesday afternoon (August 6).

Immigration sources said that he along with his wife and children were trying to go to India through Akhaura land port around 3:00 pm but the authorities sent back him as there is a travel ban.

Shyamal Dutta, also editor of daily Bhorer Kagoj, is well-known as Awami League-backed journalist.

Akhaura immigration in-charge police inspector Khairul Alam confirmed the matter.
