2,350 get bail in sabotage cases

A court in Dhaka has granted bail to 2,350 people arrested in cases filed with different police stations in the capital on charges of sabotage centering on the quota reform movement.

Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court passed the bail order on Tuesday (August 6).

The accused include leaders and activists of BNP, Jamaat, and their associated organizations and opposition leaders and activists.

Court sources said that the President has ordered the release of those arrested in the anti-discrimination movement and various cases from last July 1 to August 5. Later, the lawyers of the accused appealed for bail and the court granted it.
