Shafiqul Alam, the Bureau Chief of Agence France-Presse (AFP) in Bangladesh, is set to become the press secretary to the interim government’s Chief Adviser, Professor Muhammad Yunus. He confirmed this information through a post on Facebook.
Shafiqul Alam wrote, “Professor Muhammad Yunus has asked me to be his press secretary in the Interim Government. I am honoured to serve him and the nation. I haven't got the appointment letter yet. Hopefully, I'll get it in a day or two. AFP, my employers for 20 years, too wants me to stay with them. They are a big family. They've supported me all these years like a father supports his child. But I am ready to take up a new challenge. I seek your prayers!!”
Sources said that Dr. Muhammad Yunus proposed the appointment of Shafiqul Alam last Sunday. Shafiqul Alam agreed to it. Gazette notification will be issued soon in this regard.
