Plea to file murder case against Sheikh Hasina, 6 others

An application has been made to file a murder case accusing former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and six others, including the AL general secretary, former home minister and the former IGP over the death of a grocery shop owner Abu Sayeed in police firing in Dhaka’s Mohammadpur area on July 19.
Amir Hamza Shatil, a businessman and resident of Mohammadpur, filed the application to register the murder case with the Court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury on Tuesday (August 13).
The court accepted the statement of the plaintiff and reserved the matter for later order.
Mamun Mia, a lawyer for the plaintiff, confirmed the matter regarding the application to register the case.
Others who have been requested to be accused in the case are former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former IGP Abdullah Al Mamun, DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman, Additional IGP Harun-or-Rashid and Additional Joint Police Commissioner Biplab Kumar.
Last July 19 at 4pm, Abu Sayed was shot dead by the police during a procession in support of the quota movement at Bachila 40 feet intersection under Mohammadpur police station.
