Malaysian PM phones Dr Yunus

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has phoned Dr Muhammad Yunus and congratulated him on his recent appointment as chief adviser to the interim government of Bangladesh.

Anwar Ibrahim shared this information in a Facebook post on Wednesday (August 14).

Ibrahim wrote, “Yesterday, I made a phone call to my old friend, Prof. Muhammad Yunus, to congratulate him personally on his recent appointment as the Chief Advisor for the Interim Government of Bangladesh.

“Prof Yunus has long-standing good ties with Malaysia. Thus, I assured him that Malaysia stands ready to help and support the interim Government in rebuilding and restoring peace and security in Bangladesh.”

"Professor Dr. Yunus invited me to visit Bangladesh as soon as possible to further strengthen the brotherly relations between the two countries,” Anwar added.
