Case filed against Hasina, 15 others over Madrasa student’s death

A case has been filed against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 15 others over the death of Zubayd Hossain Emon, a student of Darunnajat Islamia Madrasa in the capital’s Mohammadpur Police Station.
Abdullah Abu Sayeed Bhuiyan filed the case with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury on Thursday (August 15).
At that time, the court recorded the statement of the complainant and ordered the Mohammadpur police station to register it as a first information report (FIR).
Other accused in the case are former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, law minister Anisul Huq, Local Government and Rural Development Minister Tajul Islam, foreign minister Hasan Mahmud, state minister for information Mohammad A Arafat and others.
Unnamed individuals of RAB’s helicopter patrol team and their commanding officers were also accused in the case.
Zubayd Hossain Emon was killed by shots fired from a helicopter during the anti-discrimination student movement.
