Ex-military officer Ziaul Ahsan arrested

Police arrested the former army major general Ziaul Ahsan from the capital's New Market Police Station yesterday night.

He was shown arrested in a murder case.

DMP's media and public relations department additional deputy-commissioner, Md. Obaidur Rahman confirmed the matter on Friday noon (August 16).

Earlier, on August 6, a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said Major General Ziaul Ahsan was relieved from his responsibilities.

Ziaul Ahsan, was the director general of the National Telecommunication Monitoring Centre (NTMC). This organization of the government was widely known for its role in tapping phone calls.
