10-day remand sought for Ziaul Ahsan 

Police has sought a 10-day remand for former Major General Ziaul Ahsan in a murder case.

The hearing on the remand plea will be held at the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Arfatul Rakib on Friday.  

Investigation officer and sub-inspector of New Market Thana Md Sajib Mia has sought a 10-day remand for former army officer.

Police arrested Ziaul Ahsan from the capital's New Market Police Station on Thursday night. 

He was shown arrested in a murder case. 

Earlier, on August 6, a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said Major General Ziaul Ahsan was relieved from his responsibilities. 

Ziaul Ahsan, was the director general of the National Telecommunication Monitoring Centre (NTMC). This organization of the government was widely known for its role in tapping phone calls.
