Ziaul Ahsan put on 8-day remand 

Former Major General Ziaul Ahsan has been put on an 8-day remand in a murder case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Arfatul Rakib granted the remand plea on Friday. 

Earlier, Investigation Officer and Sub-inspector of New Market Thana Md Sajib Mia sought a 10-day remand for former army officer.
Police arrested Ziaul Ahsan from the capital's New Market Police Station on Thursday night. 

He was shown arrested in a murder case. 

Earlier, on August 6, a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said Major General Ziaul Ahsan was relieved from his responsibilities. 

Ziaul Ahsan, was the director general of the National Telecommunication Monitoring Centre (NTMC). This organization of the government was widely known for its role in tapping phone calls.
