Recovery of Tk3 crore: Former secretary Shah Kamal arrested

A team of the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested former senior secretary to the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief Shah Kamal.

He was arrested from Mohakhali area on Saturday (August 17) night.

This information was confirmed in a message sent from DMP’s public relations division.

Earlier on Friday (August 16), DMP conducted a raid and recovered cash worth around Tk3.11 crore, including local and foreign currencies, from the house of Shah Kamal on Babar Road in Mohammadpur.

Of the Tk3.11 crore recovered, Tk3.01 crore was in cash, Tk74,400 was in prize bonds and Tk10.03 lakh was in various foreign currencies.

Shah Kamal served as secretary from 2015 to 2019 and senior secretary from 2019 to 2020.
