Hasina destroyed every institution to stay in power: Chief Advisor

Interim Government Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus said former dictator Sheikh Hasina has destroyed every institution of the country in the effort to stay in power.

Dr Yunus said this while addressing a view exchange meeting with diplomats at Hotel Intercontinental in the capital on Sunday (August 18).

Meanwhile, he sought full support of foreign diplomats in running the country.

Dr Yunus also paid tributes to the students and young people who sacrificed their lives and incurred sever injuries during the quota reform movement.

He said that the young society wants a discrimination-free, friendly country. I have taken charge of the country, but Sheikh Hasina's dictatorship has destroyed the country's all institutions.

The judiciary was collapsed. Elections were rigged blatantly. Generations of young people grew up without exercising their voting rights. Banks were robbed with full political patronization, he added.

Expressing gratitude to friendly states, Dr Yunus said Bangladesh is grateful to our friendly countries, they have helped us. We are going through a challenging time now.

Bangladesh is covered in corruption. It will take time to fix. Hopefully, everyone will be with us in creating a new Bangladesh, Yunus said.
