Govt removes 12 city mayors, appoints administrators

The Local Government Division has removed mayors of 12 city corporations, including Dhaka north and south city corporations across the country.

A gazette notification was issued by the local government division on Monday.

The government also appointed administrators for those corporations. 

The notification said, the mayors were removed from their offices as per the section 13 (Ka) of the Local Government (City Corporation) (Amendment) Ordinance, 2024.

The remaining city corporations are Chattogram, Khulna, Rajshahi, Sylhet, Barishal, Narayanganj, Cumilla, Rangpur, Gazipur and Mymensingh.
