BNP announces five-day programme

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has announced a five-day programme to commemorate its 46th founding anniversary.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced it at a press conference held at the party's Nayapaltan central office on Wednesday.
The anniversary festivities will begin on August 31 with discussions held across all cities, districts, and upazilas. On September 1, the BNP flag will be hoisted at the Nayapaltan central office and other party offices nationwide.
The celebrations will continue with rallies across cities, districts, and upazilas on September 2.
On September 3, the party will release fish fries into water bodies throughout the country, followed by a tree plantation campaign on September 4.
At the press conference, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said a total of 198 BNP men were killed during the quota reform movement and about 2000 BNP men were killed in last 16 years.
The BNP was founded on 1 September 1978 by Ziaur Rahman with a 19-point programme.
