Govt to form commission to probe into disappearances cases

The interim government is going to form a commission to investigate the incidents of forced disappearances as many people were disappeared during the reign of the ousted Sheikh Hasina government.
Chief adviser's press secretary Shafiqul Alam said this in a press briefing at Foreign Service Academy on Wednesday (August 21).
He said that every missing incident will be investigated. For this reason, the government is considering forming a commission. An announcement will be made soon by the government.
Besides, a national security adviser will be appointed soon, said Shafiqul Alam.
The Cabinet of the Interim Government discussed the formation of the Commission. There is a commission on forced disappearances in Sri Lanka and such a commission will be formed in Bangladesh, he added.
The press secretary also said, "About 700 people were disappeared during the tenures of the Sheikh Hasina government and some 150 people are still missing."
