13 dead, 45 lakh affected by flooding in 11 districts

At least thirteen people have died and 45 lakh others affected by the ongoing floods in 11 districts across the country.

Md Kamrul Hasan, secretary of Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief revealed the information in a press conference on the overall flood situation on Friday (August 23).

He said floods have inundated 77 Upazilas and 584 unions and municipalities in these districts. A total of 44,97,535 people have been affected by the floods while, 8,87,629 families in the flooded area have been marooned.

A total of 160 shelters have been opened for the flood victims. Around 1,88,739 people have taken refuge in these shelters, he added.
