Ban on Jamaat likely to be lifted Tuesday

The notification from the Ministry of Home Affairs banning the party and its affiliated organization Islami Chhatra Shibir may be withdrawn on Tuesday.

Adv Mohammad Shishir Manir, a lawyer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami said this while speaking to the media on Monday (August 26).

"We talked to the home ministry and learned that the entire process has been completed. As far as I know, the government will remove the ban tomorrow as today is a holiday," Shishir said.

Earlier, the then government banned the party and its all affiliate organizations through a gazette notification issued by the Public Security Division of the Home Ministry on August 1.
