Plea seeks 10-day remand for Inu

Police filed an application to a Dhaka court seeking a 10-day remand for Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) president and former information minister Hasanul Huq Inu in connection with a murder case filed at New Market Police Station in the capital.
Sub-Inspector (SI) of New Market Police Station Md Sajib Mia, also the investigation officer of the case, filed the plea on Tuesday (August 27).
The hearing on remand is scheduled to take place at Dhaka’s Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ali Haider’s court.
On Monday afternoon, a team of Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested Inu from Uttara in the capital.
Earlier on July 16, shop employee Shahjahan Ali was shot to death in the capital’s New Market area during the recent Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
Following the death, victim’s mother filed a murder case.
