Three murder cases filed against 80 including Sheikh Hasina

Three separate murder cases have been filed against 80 people including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. 

The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzel Hossain ordered Khilgaon Thana to accept the allegation as FIR on Wednesday (August 28).

The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mostafizur Rahman ordered Ashulia Thana to accept the allegation as FIR on Wednesday (August 28).

Sheikh Hasina is the main accused in the three cases.

A case has been filed against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 21 others in connection with the death of City University student Md Sajjad Hossain Sajal in Ashulia during the mass movement on August 5.

Sajal's elder brother Mijanur Rahman filed the complaint with Dhaka Senior Judicial Magistrate Mostafizur Rahman's court 

Other accused in the case are- former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, former Awami League lawmaker Saiful Islam, former Inspector General of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, former DB chief Harun Or Rashid, former DMP commissioner Habibur Rahman and former DMP joint commissioner Biplab Kumar Sarker are among the accused.

According to the case statement, hundreds of students brought out a procession in Baipail area on August 5 in support of anti-discrimination student movement. Police with the aim to control the movement, fired on the procession and detained many students.

Sajal was arrested from the procession and subsequently killed by gunshot inside the police station. 

Later, police put Sajal's body alongside the bodies of 7/8 more students into a leguna and set it on fire by pouring petrol on it.
