8 ex-ministers, 6 MPs barred from leaving country

A Dhaka court imposed travel embargo on former eight ministers and six lawmakers from the Awami League government.
Judge Mohammed Ash-Shams Joglul Hossain of Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge’s Court passed the order on Thursday (August 29), following a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The eight former ministers with travel embargo are- Jahid Maleque, Dr Dipu Moni, Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel, Sadhan Chandra Mazumder, Nurul Mazid Mahmud Humayun, Kamal Ahmed Mazumder, Shahjahan Khan and Qamrul Islam.
The six former lawmakers are- Solim Uddin, Mamunur Rashid Kiron, Kujendro Lala Tripura, Qazim Uddin, Nur E Alam Chowdhury and Ziaur Rahman.
ACC prosecutor Mahmud Hossain Jahangir confirmed the information.
ACC deputy director Abu Hena Ashikur Rahman filed a plea regarding the travel embargo.
