Tipu Munshi sent to jail; Golap put on fresh remand

A Dhaka court sent former commerce minister Tipu Munshi to jail after completing remand in a case filed over killing a man named Sumon Sikder. Besides, the court also placed Awami League publicity secretary Abdus Sobhan Golap was placed on three-day remand in a case filed over the death of a garment worker Rubel.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Mehedi Hasan passed the order on Monday (September 2).
Investigation officer (IO) Sub-Inspector Md Rezaul Alam produced Tipu Munshi before the court after the remand and filed a plea to keep him behind bars.
Earlier, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Tipu Munshi from the capital's Gulshan area on August 28.
On the other hand, Adabar police station Inspector Mintu Chandra Banik produced Abdus Sobhan Golap before the court seeking seven-day remand. Later, the court accepted three-day remand for him.
Earlier, Awami League Publicity and Publication Secretary Abdus Sobhan Golap was detained from Nakhalpara in the capital on August 25.
