Diamond World MD Dilip Kumar placed on 3-day remand

A Dhaka court has placed Dilip Kumar Agarwala, the managing director (MD) of Diamond World, on a three-day remand in a case filed over the killing of a youth named Hridoy Ahmed in the capital’s Badda during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehedi Hasan passed the remand order on Wednesday (September 4).
Earlier, Sub-Inspector of Badda Police Station Md Sadek, also the investigating officer of the case, produced him before the court with seven-day remand prayer.
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) launched a drive at the Diamond World office in the capital’s Gulshan area on Tuesday night and arrested Dilip from there.
Dilip is also an accused of money laundering, fraud and forgery, linked to the import of gold and diamonds, RAB officials said.
On Tuesday, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) launched an investigation into allegations of laundering money and smuggling gold and diamonds against Dilip Kumar Agarwala.
