Dr Mohammad Azam appointed new DG of Bangla Academy

Writer and researcher Dr Mohammad Azam has been appointed as the director general (DG) of the Bangla Academy.
The Ministry of Public Administration has issued a notification on Thursday (September 5).
Dr Mohammad Azam is currently serving as an associate professor in the Department of Bengali at the University of Dhaka.
The works published by Dr Mohammad Azam are ‘Bangla o Promito Bangla Samachar’, and edited volumes such as ‘Nirbachito Kabita: Syed Ali Ahsan’ and ‘Kobi o Kobitar Sandhane’.
Born on August 23, 1975, in Hatiya, Noakhali, Dr Mohammad Azam completed his undergraduate and master’s degrees from the Department of Bengali at Dhaka University. Later, he earned his PhD degree through research on the colonization and decolonization of the Bengali language.
