Public notice to be issued to find enforced disappearance victims

The government has decided to issue a public notice to aid in locating the missing persons who were reportedly victims of the enforced disappearance.

This decision was made during the commission's first meeting, held on Sunday (September 8), as confirmed by a press release from the commission.

According to the notice, the government formed a five-member commission of Inquiry to trace persons who have been forcibly disappeared by the members of law enforcement agencies.

These agencies include Bangladesh Police, the Rapid Action Battalion, Border Guard Bangladesh, Coast Guard, the Criminal Investigation Department, the Special Branch, the Ansar Battalion, National Security Intelligence, military forces, and the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI).

The meeting, chaired by commission chairman Justice Moinul Islam Chowdhury, took place at the commission's office at Gulshan around 11:00am. All the members of the commission attended the meeting.
