ASM Feroz sent to jail in murder case

A Dhaka court has sent former Chief Whip ASM Feroz to jail in a case filed over the killing of a youth in the capital's Bhatara area during the anti-discrimination student movement.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehera Mahbub passed the order on Monday.

Police produced him before the court after end of his 10-day remand in two phases in the case lodged over the murder of Sohagh Miah and pleaded to keep him behind the bars.

Sohagh Miah, 16, was shot by police on July 19 in front Farazi Hospital under Bhatara Police Station. He died on the spot. Sohagh's father Shafayet Hossain on August 20 filed the case against 91 including ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Police arrested ASM Feroz from the capital’s Banani area on August 23.
