Former IGP Shahidul lands in jail after remand

A Dhaka court sent Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Haque to jail after the end of his seven-day remand in a case filed for killing a businessman Abdul Wadud during anti-discrimination student movement.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Haydar passed the order on Wednesday morning (September 11).

Earlier, the new market police station’s Sub-Inspector Bayezid Bostami produced him before court and pleaded to keep him behind bars.

On July 19, the businessman Abdul Wadud was shot dead by the police in Nilkhet area near Newmarket police station during the anti-discrimination student movement.
