Asaduzzaman Mia placed on 7-day remand

A Dhaka court has placed former Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia on a seven-day remand in a murder case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saiful Islam passed the remand order on Thursday (September 12).

Sub-Inspector (SI) of Khilgaon police station Golap Mahmud, also the investigation officer of the case, filed a petition seeking a ten-day remand for former DMP commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia.

Earlier, a team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested the former DMP commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia from Mohakhali flyover area in the capital around 11:15 pm on Wednesday (September 11).

According to the case statement, Nuruzzaman Joni was killed in name of crossfire in 2015 in police custody. Nine years after the incident, the victim’s father filed a case with the Khilgaon police station on September 3. The case also named 62 people including 13 police officers.
