Farhad Hossain placed on 5-day remand

A Dhaka court on Sunday (September 15) placed former public administration minister Farhad Hossain on a five-day remand in a case filed over the killing of a garment worker Rubel during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sanaullah passed the order after Sub-Inspector (SI) of Adabar Thana Abdul Malek, also the investigation officer of the case, produced him before the court with a ten-day remand prayer in the case.

Earlier, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested former public administration minister Farhad Hossain in the city’s Eskaton area last night.

The former minister was accused in cases of gun firing on student-people and killing during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement on August 5.

It was learnt that garment worker Rubel was killed during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in August last.

Rubel’s father Rafikul Islam filed a case in this connection against 148 people including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina with Adabar Thana and Farhad Hossain is one of the accused in this case.

Farhad Hossain became full minister in the 12th parliament. He was the Member of Parliament for three consecutive times from Meherpur-1 constituency.
