Mozammel, Shahriar put on 7-day remand

A Dhaka court has placed senior Journalists Mozammel Babu and Shyamal Dutta and former president of the Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee Shahriar Kabir on a seven-day remand in two murder cases.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sanaullah passed the order on Tuesday (September 17).

Earlier, investigation officer Inspector Md Payel Hossain produced the accused before the court seeking 10-day remand.

On September 5, the victim Liza Akhter’s father Md Joynal Shikdar, filed the case against former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, and 173 others.

According to the case statement, bullets and rubber bullets were fired with the direct and indirect participation of the accused in the area under Ramna police station on July 18. Many people including Liza were injured at that time. Later, she succumbed to her bullet injuries on July 22.
