Attempt to kill Mirza Abbas: Menon placed on 3-day remand

A Dhaka court has placed Workers Party of Bangladesh President and former minister Rashed Khan Menon on a three-day remand in the attempted murder case of BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbubul Haque granted the remand order on Tuesday (September 17).
Earlier, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Shahbagh police station Mainul Islam Khan Pulak, also the investigating officer of the case, produced Menon at the court with five-day remand prayer.
On December 15, 2018, Mirza Abbas was attacked with rods with an intention to kill while campaigning for the BNP in the Segunbagicha area under Ramna police station.
Following the incident, Imam Hossain Imon filed a case with Shahbagh police station on August 4 last.
