2 cops remanded over provocative statements on Facebook

A court in Dhaka has placed two police constables on a two-day fresh remand in connection with a case filed over allegedly creating chaos in the police force by inciting colleagues through provocative statements on Facebook.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Arifur Rahman passed the order on Thursday (September 19).

The two constables are Shoaibur Rahman, 32, and Sajib Sarkar, 27.

The two accused were produced before the court after completing their three-day remand. Later, the court accepted two days of fresh remand when police sought seven days remand.

Earlier, the case was filed under the Cybercrime Act against more than 100 policemen by mentioning the names of 18 people.
