Ex-Jatrabari OC put on 7-day remand

A Dhaka court granted a seven-day remand for Abul Hasan, former officer-in-charge (OC) of Jatrabari Police Station, in a case filed over the death of a student, Sakib Hasan, in Dhaka’s Jatrabari area on July 18 during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Arifur Rahman granted the remand order following a hearing on Thursday (September 19) after Sub-Inspector (SI) of Jatrabari Police Station, also the investigating officer of the case, produced the accused before the court with a 10-day remand prayer in the case.
On September 2, Abu Bakar, the victim’s relative, filed the murder case with Jatrabari Police Station.
Police arrested Abul Hasan from Teknaf of Cox’s Bazar on September 16.
