WB to continue support in various sectors: Finance Adviser

Finance and Commerce Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed said the World Bank (WB) will provide support in reforming various sectors including banking in Bangladesh.
He said this after a meeting with Martin Raiser, vice president for the South Asia Region of the World Bank, at his Secretariat office on Thursday (September 19).
The adviser said, “A fruitful discussion was held over various issues including budget support, assistance in the energy sector, fertilizer imports, food, post-flood aid and solution to the Rohingya problems during the meeting with the World Bank’s South Asia vice president and his team.”
“The World Bank was very positive about all the proposals we placed, and they provided concrete responses. They assured us of their cooperation,” he said.
“The World Bank will provide support in the reforms we have undertaken in the banking sector”, said the adviser.
“We also discussed issues related to boosting investment in the private sector and addressing various challenges in business and trade. They have assured us of their assistance”, Dr Salehuddin further said.
