Ex-Addl Attorney General Mehedi shown arrested in murder case

A Dhaka court has granted an application to show former Additional Attorney General Barrister Md Mehedi Hasan Chowdhury arrested in a case filed with Adabor Police Station under Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) over the murder of garment worker Rubel.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saddam Hossain on Sunday (September 22) granted the application which was filed by Inspector of Adabor Police Station Abdul Malek, also the investigating officer of the case, in the morning.
Earlier on September 10, Jhenaidah police arrested former Additional Attorney General Barrister Md Mehedi Hasan Chowdhury from the district while he was trying to cross the border illegally.
On August 5 last during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, several hundreds of students and people took out a procession at Ring Road area under Adabor Police Station around 11 am. At this time, police, ruling Awami League and its student and associate bodies opened fire on them, leaving one Rubel shot dead.
Following this, the victim’s father Rafikul Islam filed a murder case on August 22.
