Hilsa fishing banned for 22 days from Oct 13

The authority has announced a ban on the collection, transportation, purchase, sale, storage and exchange of hilsa across Bangladesh for 22 days to ensure the uninterrupted breeding of hilsa.
Farida Akhtar, Advisor to the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock in the Secretariat revealed the information on Sunday (September 22).
She said, Hilsa is our nature's gift. We need to understand the nature while extracting the hilsa. Those whose livelihoods are involved in hilsa extraction should be given importance.
In reply to a question, she said the government will take action if local traders hike prices taking advantage of the export.
