Govt seeks financial and technical assistance from IMF

Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed said Bangladesh has sought technical support from the International Monetary Fund to reform the country's financial sector and repatriate the money which has been laundered abroad.

The adviser said this while addressing reporters after a meeting with IMF delegates at his secretariate office in Dhaka on Tuesday (September 24).

He said that reforms are underway in various sectors in the country. We need financial, technical and other support to continue them. For this, we are discussing not only with the IMF but also with the World Bank, ADB and other lenders.

The delegation inquired about our requirements. We told them the details. They will discuss with Bangladesh Bank, NBR and other departments, the adviser added.
