Another 10-day remand sought for Diamond World MD

Police have filed an application seeking another 10-day remand for Dilip Kumar Agarwala, managing director (MD) of Diamond World Limited, in connection with a case filed over the murder of 16-year-old Hridoy Ahmed during the anti-discrimination student movement.
Sub-Inspector of Detective Branch of Police (Gulshan Division) Nurul Islam Khan, also the investigating officer of the case, filed the application on Thursday (September 26).
Hearing on the remand prayer will be held in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mosharraf Hossain in presence of the accused.
Agarwal was apprehended by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on September 3 last from Gulshan, Dhaka. He was placed on a three-day remand by a Dhaka Metropolitan Court the following day. On September 7, he was sent to jail after remand.
The case alleges that on July 19, during the anti-discrimination student protests, Hridoy Ahmed was shot dead in front of Brac University in Badda at around 2pm.
One Shahadat Hossain Khan filed a case against 161 individuals, including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, in connection with the incident.
