Govt dissolves textbook revision committee

The Ministry of Education has dissolved the coordination committee formed to revise and amend textbooks prepared and printed by the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB).
An office order signed by Secondary and Higher Education Division Senior Assistant Secretary Yanur Rahman was issued in this regard on Saturday (September 28).
Earlier on September 15, the Ministry of Education formed the committee, headed by Dr KM Kabirul Islam, additional secretary of the ministry. Senior Assistant Secretary Yanur Rahman was the member secretary.
The other members of the committee included --- education researcher Rakhal Raha, Prof Kamrul Hasan Mamun from the Department of Physics at Dhaka University, Prof Mohammad Azam from the Bengali Department, Associate Prof Samina Luthfa Nitra from the Department of Sociology, Additional Secretary Masud Akhtar Khan from the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, NCTB Chairman Prof Dr AKM Riazul Hasan, NCTB Curriculum Committee Member Prof Rabiul Kabir Chowdhury, and NCTB Primary Curriculum Member Prof AFM Sarwar Jahan.
Meanwhile, after the formation of the committee, several Islamic parties have called for the inclusion of Islami scholars, citing equal representation.
