Two committees formed to prevent dengue

Two separate committees have been formed to prevent dengue in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) area.

Three experts have been appointed as members of a six-member committee each. 

Administrators of the two city corporations will work as conveners and chief executive officers as member secretaries. Besides, the chief health officers of two city corporations have been made members of the two committees.

Meanwhile, five more deaths were reported from dengue in the 24 hours till Monday morning, bringing the total fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 163 this year.

During the period, 1,152 more patients were hospitalised with the viral fever, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Among the latest reported deaths, one occurred in areas under Dhaka South City Corporation, one in Dhaka North City Corporation areas, and one each in the Barishal, Chattogram, and Khulna divisions.

In terms of hospitalisations, during the 24 hours till Monday morning, 252 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka North City, while 187 others were treated in Dhaka South City Corporation areas.
