Ashulia workers withdraw road blockade after 53 hours 

The readymade garment workers allowed vehicular movement on Ashulia highway after 53 hours-long-blockade on the route following the assurance of army personnel on Wednesday (October 2).

The agitated workers left the road around 1:00 pm.

Earlier, the workers of four factories of Birds Group declared shut without paying salaries of workers. Later, around 2,000 workers of the factories of staged demonstration on Wednesday morning (October 2).

The protest program created huge traffic jam in both sides of the highway there. Thousands of people got stuck on Dhaka-Aricha highway due to the road blockade.

Police and other law enforcing agencies tried to convince protesters but failed. Later, army personnel remove the agitated workers this noon.

Ashulia police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abu Bakar Siddique said the workers of Birds Group left the scene. The vehicular movement is normal now.
