Salam Murshedy placed on 2-day remand

A Dhaka court granted a two-day remand for former Khulna-4 lawmaker Abdus Salam Murshedy in a case filed over the killing of garment worker Rubel during the recent Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Akteruzzaman granted the remand order on Wednesday (October 2).

Earlier, Inspector of Adabor Police Station Abdul Malek, also the investigation officer of the case, produced Murshedy, also the former senior vice-president of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), before the court with a 10-day remand prayer.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained Abdus Salam Murshedy from the city’s Bashundhara residential area on October 1.

Garment worker Rubel joined the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in Adabor Ring Road area on August 5. He got shot on his chest and abdomen on that day and succumbed to his injuries two days later.

Rubel’s father Rafikul Islam filed the case over the incident on August 22.
