Heavy rain disrupts normal life in Dhaka

Incessant rain triggered waterlogging and gridlocks in different parts of the capital on Thursday, disrupting normal life of its residents, especially office-goers.

According to the weather office, rain may occur in different parts of the country till Saturday. At this time, there is a possibility of heavy rain at some places. Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and strong over North Bay. A low-pressure area is likely to form over North Bay and adjoining area.

The weather update said light to moderate rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram & Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the country. Day and night temperature may fall by (1-3)°C over the country.

Meteorologist Md Hafizur Rahman said from Wednesday 6 pm to 9 pm, the capital received 28 mm of rain. Low pressure may develop in the sea by tomorrow. Due to this, the trend of rainfall may increase in the next two to three days.

All fishing boats and trawlers over north Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.
