A Dhaka court granted a two-day remand for former lawmaker and Narsingdi district Awami League (AL) leader Dr Engineer Masuda Siddique Rozy in a case filed over the murder of one Sirajul Bepari in the capital’s Badda area on August 5.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Arifur Rahman passed the remand order on Thursday (October 3) as Sub-Inspector (SI) of Badda Police Station Nazmul Huda, also the investigating officer of the case, produced Rozy before the court and pleaded to place her on five-day remand in the case.

Rozy was arrested from her Khilkhet home last night (October 2).

According to the case details, Sirajul Bepari joined a procession of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement on August 5. As the procession came in front of the Brac University campus, Awami League cadres started firing on them. Three bullets hit Sirajul, leaving him dead on the spot.

Sirajul’s cousin Hasibul Hasan Lavlu filed the case on September 1 against 114 accused, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
