Ex-Food Minister Sadhan put on 7-day remand

Former Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder has been put on a seven-day remand in a murder case filed for killing Ramij Uddin Ahmed Rup, a student of Daffodil International University, on August 4.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saifuddin Hossain granted the remand plea on Friday (October 4).

Sub Inspector of Tejgaon Thana Md Sohel Rana, also investigation officer of the case, sought him a 10-day remand.

Police arrested him from the capital’s Bashundhara area on Thursday night. 

According to the case documents, Rup, 21, was gunned down in Karwan Bazar area on August 4 as he was taking part in anti-discrimination student movement.

Rup's father AKM Rakibul Ahammed filed the case with Tejgaon Police Station against 223, including the ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
