Ex-NBR chairman Nojibur Rahman arrested

A team of the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested Nojibur Rahman, former principal secretary to former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and former chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR).
Nojibur was arrested from Gulshan area of the capital on Sunday (October 6) night.
Confirming his arrest to the media, DB Chief and Additional Commissioner Rezaul Karim Mallick said Nojibur will be presented at the court today, Monday.
He was arrested based on specific allegations, Mallick added.
Nojibur, hailing from Sunamganj district, was appointed the NBR chairman and the secretary of the Internal Resources Division in 2015.
He was made the new principal secretary to the prime minister on December 31, 2017.
