Ex-land minister Narayan Chandra Chanda detained

The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has detained former land minister and former lawmaker of Khulna-5 constituency Narayan Chandra Chanda while he was attempting to flee to India illegally.
The BGB confirmed this in a statement on Sunday (October 6) night.
According to BGB, the former minister was detained at the Maheshpur border in Jhenaidah.
Narayan Chandra assumed the responsibility of the land ministry after the 12th general election this year.
Previously, he was elected as an MP in the 2008, 2014 and 2018 elections.
On January 12, 2014, he took oath as the state minister for fisheries and livestock. After the death of then-minister Muhammed Sayedul Hoque, he took over as the minister of that ministry in 2018.
