Garment workers block Mirpur roads demanding due salaries

Garment workers from eight factories in the capital’s Kachukhet area, Mirpur, are holding demonstrations by blocking roads to press home their salary arrears.

The workers of Uniform Textile Limited took to the streets on Monday (October 14) morning and started protesting. Later, the workers of eight more factories in Kachukhet area protested by blocking the Cantonment-Mirpur 14 road. The demonstration caused a significant traffic jam in that area. Commuters are suffering the most.

Shah Mohammad Faisal, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bhashantek police station, told risingbd that police are on alert to prevent any untoward incident. “Efforts are being made to talk to the workers and owners to reach a solution.”
