Mohammad Faruk Khan, former minister of civil, aviation and tourism, has been arrested.
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested him from his cantonment residence in the early hours of Tuesday (October 15).
Confirming the matter, Chief of the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Rezaul Karim Mallick said Faruk Khan has been arrested based on specific allegation.
Faruk was wanted in several cases filed with different police stations.
Faruk served as a minister from 2011-2013 and again in January-August 2024.
Prior to that, he was the minister of commerce from 2009-2011.
He is also a former member of parliament of the Gopalganj-1 constituency from 1996-2024.
Faruk retired as a lieutenant colonel from Bangladesh Army having served in the military from 1971-1995.
