August 15 among 8 national days being revoked

The interim government has decided to revoke eight national days including National Mourning Day on August 15.

This information was confirmed in a circular issued by the Office of the Chief Adviser on Wednesday (October 16).

The circular stated that the advisory council of the interim government has recently taken the decision to cancel eight national days in a meeting. The cabinet division will issue a circular soon cancelling these days.

Out of the eight cancelled days, five are related to the birth and death of Sheikh Hasina’s family members.

The days to be cancelled are March 7, commemorating Bangabandhu’s historic speech; March 17, which is both Bangabandhu’s birth anniversary and National Children’s Day; August 5, the birth anniversary of Captain Sheikh Kamal; August 8, the birth anniversary of Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib; August 15, the death anniversary of Bangabandhu and National Mourning Day; October 18, Sheikh Russell Day; November 4, National Constitution Day; and December 12, Smart Bangladesh Day.
