Former Agriculture Minister Abdur Razzaque has been sent to jail after two-day remand in a case filed over the killing of businessman Abdul Wadud in the New Market area during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ali Haider issued the order on Thursday (October 17), rejecting bail plea filed by his lawyer.
Earlier, police presented Razzaque, also the presidium member of the Awami League, before the court after his remand ended.
The defence lawyer sought bail for him, while the prosecution argued in favour of keeping them in custody. After hearing their arguments, the judge ordered police to send him to jail.
Abdur Razzaque was also shown arrested in another murder case filed with Adabor Police Station.
Following his arrest in Eskaton on October 14, Abdur Razzaque was remanded for two days in the case filed over the killing of businessman Abdul Wadud.
