Six officials of PBS remanded in sedition case 

A Dhaka court has granted a three-day remand for six officials of Palli Bidyut Samity (PBS) under the Rural Electrification Board (REB) in separate two cases filed under Sedition and Cyber Security Act at Khilkhet Police Station of the capital for destabilizing the power sector. 

After the hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Farzana Shakila Sumu Chowdhury granted the remand plea on Friday (October 18).

The accused are Rajon Kumar Das, Asaduzzaman Bhuiyan, Dipok Kumar Singh, Rahat, Monir Hossain and Belal Hossain.

A section of officials from various Palli Bidyut Samity (PBS) units under the Rural Electrification Board (REB) issued a stark ultimatum, threatening a ‘complete shutdown’ following the termination and arrest of key officials across several districts.
